Friendship and learning create a special community

Jewish Learning

Children experience the joy of Jewish learning through a unique curriculum, designed with after-school in mind.

The hours after a long school day can be tough for children. Learning at The Clubhouse takes this into account, with lots of hands-on activities, movement, and community-building opportunities.

Units throughout the year include:

  • Holidays — Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Hanukah, Purim, Passover, and more

  • Jews around the World

  • The Courage to Question

  • Mitzvah and Tzedakah (Commandment and Justice)

  • Israel

  • Each year, units are taught through the lens of different Jewish values — like Ometz Lev (Courage), Rachamin (Compassion), Hakarat Hatov (Gratitude), Savlanut (Patience), and more

  • Year after year, learning deepens but never repeats!

Hebrew learning emphasizes modern Hebrew vocabulary. We use Hebrew Through Movement, an innovative approach to language learning that teaches understanding rather than reading.

Our approach to Israel is nuanced and based on progressive Zionism. To understand more about how we think about Israel and its place in Jewish life, read about Congregation Rodeph Shalom’s Israel Vision.
